Bethlehem Halloween 5k

On Sunday, October 28 at 1:00pm, costumed runners in the third annual Bethlehem Halloween 5K will race through the streets of Downtown Bethlehem, kicking off the much-loved Bethlehem Halloween Parade. The Parade begins at 2pm.

Half of the Bethlehem Halloween 5K takes place along the parade route, while the other half is through the neighborhoods of Bethlehem’s Historic District. It begins and ends at Main and Market Streets. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to run in costumes. Prizes will be awarded to the costumed runners, and the exact course can be found at www.Bethlehem5K.com.

The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, a council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to put on the Bethlehem Halloween 5K, which is presented by the Morning Call.

The Bethlehem Halloween 5K is open to a maximum of 400 runners. In its inaugural year in 2010, the race exceeded expectations by drawing over 250 runners; last year, in spite of the unexpected snow storm, the race still drew over 350 people. This year the Chamber anticipates 400 runners. The parade draws tens of thousands of spectators, many who arrive early in the day to stake out their spots.

“One of the great things about this race is the way it draws the community together. A race is a fun atmosphere to begin with, but adding costumed runners to the mix really brings the race to life. It’s also a great way to kick off the parade because so many spectators are already there to watch the race,” says Mark Pesavento of BBraun Medical and President of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce.

Runners can register on www.Bethlehem5K.com, at the Aardvark Sports Shop, or on race day if spots are still available.

In addition to The Morning Call, West Side Hammer Electric, and Aardvark Sports Shops have shown their support of the race through sponsorship.
