Valley News – April 3

Emmaus 4 Miler

If you were over on the LVRS Facebook page yesterday you will have noticed my post about a loss to our running community over the weekend. Robert Focht died on Saturday at the ten mile Kutztown Fool’s Run from an apparent heart attack. Bob was an avid runner and I am sure I speak for all of us by sending his family my deepest condolences. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.

The only race I’m seeing on the calendar for this weekend is Mt. Penn Mudfest out in Reading, put on by our friends, the Pagoda Pacers. This is a 15k trail race which takes place on Saturday.

Those we’ve got plenty of! You are all welcome to join any of the runs, all paces and levels will be welcomed.
Tuesday – Finish Line group run
Wednesday – Aardvark After Dark
Saturday – LVRR run, BCR run, Run The Stairs
Sunday – LVRR run, Laura’s half marathon training group

Are you heading up to Boston next weekend? Please leave me a message in a comment below if you are going to be running the marathon this year. I’d love to include you in my Shout! Out. Hope that taper is going well.

Have you seen the news about a class action lawsuit in Massachusettes alleging that the makers of Vibram Five Fingers presented deceptive information about the benefits of barefoot running? If the legalese is a little hard to decipher check out this explanation over on the Runner’s World website.
