Lehigh Valley Zoo 5k/10k Contest

The 3rd Annual Lehigh Valley Zoo 5k and 1 Mile Family Walk will take place on Sunday, August 28, 2011. The course this year is a beautiful run along the Jordan Creek and crossing the 150 year old Geiger Covered Bridge. The wide, well groomed trails bordering the Jordan are tree canopied and offer a shaded, especially picturesque run to be remembered all year long. The race finishes with a full loop within the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The 1 mile Family Walk consists of an interpretive walk around the zoo. The walk is stroller friendly. New this year is an addition of a 10k race, sure to test the best of you.

Two lucky folks – one male and one female – will be the winners of this week’s Giveaway Contest. Winners will receive one free entry into their choice of either the 5k race or the 1ok race.

As part of the your registration fee you are entitled to all day admission to the Zoo. The proceeds of this event benefit the Lehigh Valley Zoo so run, have fun, and support a good cause!

This should be a good prep race for me a few weeks before the Philadelphia Half Marathon. Good luck to all on your fall races.

I recently restarted running and set a goal to run in at least 11 5Ks this year. I have 1 in the bag and three on the books already…It would be a great race to help me achieve my 55K in 2011 goal.

I ran this event the first year. It was such a good experience and the pass the to zoo was awesome. I’d love to run this event again this year.
