Maureen Cochran

Maureen Cochran
Resides in: Lower Saucon
Years running: 4 months
Bio: I consider myself to be a beginner runner, as I just recently started running again after years of taking a break. I have trained for several months and just recently completed several 5k races. It is good to be back!

What do you enjoy most about running?
My favorite thing about running is that it always there to come back to. I was a competitive runner as a child and took many years off. I just recently started running again and although it is a little difficult to get back into shape, I feel like I never took a break. I missed the energy and feeling of accomplishment that running gave me.

Favorite race distance?
My favorite race distance is the 5k. At this point, anything more is intimidating to me.

Running Heroes?
I would have to say that my sister, Jackie, is my running hero. She is so busy in her daily life and raising her family, yet she still finds time to run. She completed her first ½ marathon recently. She motivates me to do better and is one of the reasons why I got back into running.

Current running goals?
My main goal is to improve my 5k time.

What are some things you’ve learned about yourself from running?
The biggest thing I have learned about myself is that I can do it. I have pushed myself over the past few months and I am honestly proud of how far I have come. I never thought I could do it, but here I am….planning my schedule around my training and counting down to races!

Best race experience?
My best race experience so far was to complete my first 5k in October. I was concerned that I was going to have to walk, but I pushed through and finished faster than my practice 5k time. Being able to complete the race was a huge step for me. My whole family came out to cheer.

Maureen – I am very proud of you for all the hard work and determination you have given to your running. It has been wonderful to watch you become faster and more confident with each race you have finished. You really had me worried when we raced at the Turkey Trot! Maybe next year you will win. Keep up the good work.
