This weekend’s big local race is the Lehigh Valley Zoo 5k. Gorgeous scenery and yes, there is race day registration. The race begins at 8am so be sure to leave home a bit early this year in order to get through the road detour. Game Preserve Road is closed at Route 309 and rerouted as per map below:

If you take a look at the Race Calendar for September you will see that the local 5k scene is full swing! You have at least fifteen 5k races to choose from as well as a marathon and one mile race. Start planning now.
Speaking of one mile races … the Contest for a free race entry to the Hamilton Street Mile is taking place right now! Head over to the Contest page and enter your name to win a free race entry. It’s as easy as that. You will have a chance to win an entry each week through September 19th. That’s four more shots at winning. Our first week’s winner was Michael Womelsdorf who is itching to add this race to his list of accomplishments. The race takes place on Thursday, September 23rd in downtown Allentown.
