Great stuff going on this week …

If I haven’t reminded you lately, I apologize. There is a group run leaving from The Finish Line Running Store each Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm. These are runs of approximately 5 miles in duration, give or take, and a very relaxed group of folks, meaning pace is no object. Come out if your fast or slow, it’s all about having a great time with some new running friends.

The third LVRR sponsored Summer Series 5k is this Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. Registration begins at 5:15 pm and is only $5.00!! The post-race potluck picnic is so much fun and the entire evening is very family friendly so bring the kids and your spouse and enjoy the night. You can always jump in the creek right after the race – it’s going to be a hot one this month.

For the children, the very first Kids Duathlon will be taking place this Friday night at 5:00 pm at Rodale Park, directly across from the Velodrome. This event is for kids ages 6-14 and benefits The Caring Place in Allentown.

If you miss the Kids Duathlon, no worries. The 5th LVRR Kids Race takes place this Saturday morning in Lehigh Parkway. Registration is from 8:45-9:30 am and the races begin at 10:00 am sharp. There has been an incredible turnout at these events this year. Bring your kids out for a great time.

If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you’re going to run the Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon for Via on Sunday, September 12th perhaps this will help get you moving to make a decision. Registration closes on August 13th at midnight. 5K Walk Registration does not close. Late registrations will be accepted thru midnight on 8/20. Fees are: Marathon: $110, Half Marathon: $80, Relay Teams: $285. Will you be running?

This weekend is a bit sparse on races but I’m wondering who is planning on racing over the weekend. There are a bunch of races in the area on July 17-18. I’ll be running the XTERRA 21k, although I’m not quite sure what I signed myself up for …
