Congratulations to everyone who participated and/or volunteered over the weekend to help make this year’s 25th anniversary of the half marathon a huge success!

I have come across the following blog entries from around the web where you can read personal race recaps of the St. Luke’s Lehigh Valley Half Marathon. If you find yourself with a little spare time and are curious about what others had to say about their race experience, check out these links:

Tonight’s 6:00 pm Group Run starts at The Finish Line Running Store and ends with pizza and beer at Armetta’s.

Girls on the Run needs your help! There are 200 young girls (3rd-5th grade) who will be running in the next GOTR’s 5k event on Monday, May 24th. This means that GOTR needs 200 running buddies to be paired with the girls, to date they only have 70 running buddies. Everyone is welcome to help (men and women) but you must be 18 years of age or older. An additional 40 volunteers are needed to help with registration, parking, water stations, course marshals, cheerleaders, set up and clean up. Please consider helping for this wonderful event and organization which encourages pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. I highlighted Girls on the Run in early March which you can read about here. Here is the link to register as a Running Buddy or in a non-running capacity: http://www.diakon.org/GOTR/Lehigh_EventDetails.asp?ID=3528on

For those of you who run in Lehigh Parkway – the water fountains are now working.

Speaking of water fountains … I have a map on the Where To Run page of this website which shows the locations of several running spots throughout the Lehigh Valley. (I’m including the map below.) When you click on the trail markers a popup will show information about the trails with relevant information. I would like to improve this map by including the locations of water fountains around the valley. If you know of specific water fountain locations please send me an email (jill@lvrunningscene.com) with the description of where the fountain is located and I will add it to the map. Thank you!

The map is awesome. Thanks for putting it out there. I missed the Girls on the Run info at the Lehigh Valley 1/2 expo so I’m glad you posted information that they needed volunteers. I signed up, it looks like it will be alot of fun.
