Camp, Not Just For Kids Anymore

What do you have planned for vacation this summer? Laying on the beach all lathered up with lotion and dripping with sweat? Hanging at home tinkering with all of those home improvements you’ve been putting off all year long?

Has the idea of attending a running camp ever piqued your interest?

Look no further. There is a new adult running camp located at Jay Peak, Vermont called WeRun2Win’s Peak Performance Camp. Imagine spending your week or weekend running in a gorgeous setting amongst the Vermont mountains, receiving coaching tips and advice about your running and sitting in discussion sessions talking about everything related to running. You’ll meet other campers/runners of all abilities and can talk freely about all of your running thoughts and questions. Personally, I know my husband gets pretty tired of hearing me gab on about my running. It would be fun to be able to talk with people who actually want to talk about running.

Not only does your fee include a week or long weekend of camp but 4 months of coaching a well. You will receive coached training which includes daily training schedules and communication with the coaches via email for the two months leading up to camp and the two months after camp.

The coaching staff will include Erin Donahue, Doreen McCoubrie, Eric Bonnette, Ben Noad, Breton Bonnette and Dave Welsh. If some of these names sound familiar, they should. Erin Donahue runs for Nike and currently coaches at Philadelphia University. Erin also competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 1500m distance. Doreen is a Penn State alum, Eric coaches at U of Penn, Breton attended U of Penn and Dave ran at Lehigh University. Dave also owns Haddonfield Running Company, Moorestown Running Company, and South Jersey Running & Triathlon Company. (You can check out more extensive bios of the coaches here.) These folks are all relatively local and accomplished runners and athletes.

Are there any local running clinics? I’d be willing to bet that Rodale would put a few on every year.

I’ve posted a couple of clinics that have already passed. I’ll continue to be on the lookout for running clinics and pass the information on to all of you.
