For those of you who missed out on registering for our local half marathon in April or perhaps you are a Half Fanatic, here is another new race.

Date: Saturday, May 29, 2010
Location: Philadelphia
Time: 7:00 am

The 13.1 mile race is being touted as an adventure race with top secret obstacles and challenges scattered throughout the course. Participation in the challenges are encouraged but not required. Runners are also encouraged to dress in costume and win prizes.

Before the Race – The fun and adventure begins even before the race whereby race organizers encourage participants to dress up and come ready to run in their favorite costumes (make sure they are run friendly!). Prizes will be awarded for best costume, most original costume, and (no offense) ugliest costume.

During the Race – Some people call them milestones, others have suggested calling them trans-formative life potential-affirming reflective spaces; what we call them are: FUN – chances along the course to explore and experience!

Finis, Complete, End, DONE – Each runner will receive a commemorative goblet (no medals here to gather dust on a shelf) to fill with the elixir of their choice! In addition, there will be a well-stocked warm down area for runners to transition smoothly from adventurous journey-person to victorious finisher!

After the Race – The trumpets will sound, the seas will part, the angels will sing – the runners have completed their journey, their quest, their mission. And what better way to recognize this than to celebrate, celebrate, and celebrate some more!!

The ODDyssey HALF-MARATHON will mix fun, fitness, and adventure. Executive Director of the race Carl Ewald comments, “Plain and simple, this is a distance run that will be a memorable and exciting journey for everyone who participates! We’ve run many miles and many races and have found our best memories combine the epic challenge of a distance race with a passion for running and love of life! We have carefully designed this race to meet, and exceed, these goals!”
