Tough Mudder

You guys have heard about this race, right? Tough Mudder seems to be all the buzz in the last couple of weeks. The inaugural event for this new race series will take place here in our very own backyard. On May 2nd at 11:00 am the first wave of racers will start half-way up the mountain with the Braveheart Charge where you run down the mountain, aptly named and reminiscent of the beginning of the battle scene from the movie Braveheart. Once you reach the bottom of the trail you turn back around to climb back up the slope, over mounds of fresh snow, crawl through Devil’s Beard, then back down the mountain to carry a log up the slope and back down, and so on. Seriously, there are 16 different “obstacles” to work your way through, the first seven of which occur as you run up and down the mountain no less than four times.
Folks, I have run the trails up at Bear Creek. They are technical, steep and unforgiving. This race promises to deliver exactly what it promises and I, for one, would love to experience the challenge and camaraderie, from a distance. While I work on getting a Journalist Pass to the event so that I can attend and report back to you wonderful readers, some of you have already registered for the race or are planning to do so. I applaud you because, as tough as this looks, you guys are in for quite a fun and adventurous day.

You know I’m in.
Only one of you is willing to do this race? I heard there are 80 people registered now. Who else is doing this?
I’m in! Can’t wait. Looks like a blast.
I’m in and from what I have heard they are sold out at 5,000 max.
