Wow! It’s not even Spring yet and Fall marathon season is starting, at least the registration process is. I found an email in my inbox the other day letting me know that the Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon for Via has opened up registration.

Date: Sunday, September 12, 2010
Distance: Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon, 5k walk
Spots Available: Marathon – 500, Relay – 300 teams, Half Marathon – 1,000, 5k walk – no limit

The Marathon and Relay both begin 7:00 am at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Cedar Crest. The Half Marathon will begin at 7:45 am at Main & Market Streets in Bethlehem. 5k walk details still forthcoming.

The Via is a non-profit organization which offers a support system for children and adults with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. Proceeds from the race benefit local services such as children’s services, employment services, autism services, community connection, etc. For more information check out their website.

I already registered for this marathon – my first. I figured I better register now while I am still confident I will actually do it. I have run the relay the last two years. It is a great course starting in Allentown and ending in Easton. Most of it is along the canal path which is beautiful (and flat).
